Mill & Mortar Organic Nutmeg & Mace, 45g Clearance

Flavour sweet and savoury dishes with organic nutmeg and mac. Both of these spices come from the nutmeg tree. Nutmeg has a warm, nutty flavour, while mace is earthy and aromatic. 

Mill & Mortar sources nutmeg and mace from a village cooperative in Sri Lanka. They are left whole to preserve their flavour. Nutmeg can be grated or powdered using a mortar or coffee grinder. Mace is typically left whole or torn into smaller pieces.

Nutmeg is used to flavour baked goods and béchamel sauce. It adds nutty sweetness to custard tarts and bread and butter pudding. Pair it with baked apples or sprinkle over green beans. In the colder months, nutmeg is a delicious addition to a mug of hot chocolate or mulled cider.

Mace is milder and slightly sweeter than nutmeg. Add it whole, like a bay leaf, to infuse sauces and stews. It’s also used in sweet recipes, like pies and custard.
